Just a Rainy Week of Arabic Class

Tuesday, October 26

Today’s class was a little bit weird. We had really bad weather and it was storming pretty badly. Parts of campus were flooded, and if you weren’t properly dressed, you were soaked with rain the moment you stepped outside. One of my professors even moved class online because he didn’t want to drive in it.

One of my friends emailed our professor asking if we could have class moved online, but our professor never emailed her back, which is weird since she’s always on top of her email. I was ready to go to class online, but my third class of the day wasn’t cancelled or moved online, so I thought it better just to go to Arabic in person. We ended up having two students in person with our professor, and three students online. Hybrid can work for some classes, but for Arabic, it’s better if everyone is online or if everyone is in person. Trying to juggle students online and in person isn’t the most ideal situation.

We ended up learning a new concept, the fronted predicate, and I was the liaison going back and forth between the professor and the students in the group chat. I had to take pictures of the whiteboard and send them in the group chat. This class just wasn’t ideal, and then our professor scheduled our quiz for this lesson in two weeks’ time on Thursday.

I am not having a great time, LOL.

Thursday, October 28

Today was better as we had everyone in class in person. We went over our homework and our professor reinforced the fronted predicate concept. I won’t go into much explanation, but the Arabic idea of the predicate is different from the English idea of it, so it’s a concept I really have to pay attention to. At the end of class, our professor assigned us a lot of homework and reminded us of our upcoming quiz in two weeks.

Arabic Word of the Week
