A Quiz and Quiz Corrections
Tuesday, October 19
We had a quiz today on Lesson 6, and let me tell you, I was stressed. I went home for fall break the week prior, and my schedule was completely thrown off. I didn’t study for the quiz when I was home, and instead waited until the night before to study. (Because on top of this quiz, I had a difficult midterm in International Politics the next day that I was worried about.) I think I did… okay? I’m really hoping that my reading comprehension saved me. I didn’t study my gerunds or vocab like I should’ve. Unfortunately, will I learn? I don’t think so…

This week felt like a long week, and my professor sensed that as well. We started on Lesson 7 today, but things were pretty relaxed. We ended up going on some tangents about the education system in the Middle East and talking about college admissions and other things like that. Since all I’ve known is the American school system (and even then not really, since I was in private Christian schooling until I graduated from high school), I find it fascinating to learn about different school systems around the world.
In the Middle East, their high school years are only three years. At the end of their senior year, students take baccalaureate exams that tell them if they’ll be graduating and going to college. Higher exam scores are needed if the student wants to go to medical, law, or engineering school.
Anyways, the class was pretty light and not very stressful. It was a nice change of pace.
