Creases

No one has to like my body;

But damnit, I love my body.

Yes, it has an abundance of hair

In places where women are told to shave.

Yes, I have crease marks on my stomach

From when I sit and my rolls make an appearance.

Yes, my face has blemishes and red spots

And scars from the acne where I would pick due to self consciousness.

Yes, my teeth are not sparkling white,

But I know for a fact that they are healthy.

Dark hair and hazel-green eyes of my father,

But brown hair and a voice from my mother.

It took me years to get here: loving my body.

But I made it through the hurtful taunts and the malice questions.

You don’t have to like my body;

But damnit, I love my body.
