Quizzes and Grammar and Culture, Oh My!

Tuesday, September 28

We had our quiz today on Lesson 5. Needless to say, I really should study more. I think study groups help me, so the two other girls in my class and I are going to try to study together on a semi-regular basis. That’ll really help me, and they make me feel better about my Arabic skills because they are constantly giving me encouragement.

We continued Lesson 6 today in class. We went over the homework before going in depth on how gerunds are formed and the dual form for nouns, pronouns, verbs, and adjectives. (Learn a new language, they said. It’ll be fun, they said!) In the middle of class, we ended up talking about Islamic culture. I wish my professor would talk more about the culture from the Middle Eastern region. That’s a big reason why I’m taking Arabic: to connect with the culture. If I think of questions to ask my professor, I know that she’d answer them happily for me.
